Guardian Soulmates review
Various newspapers provide online dating facilities for their readers and like minded people, and one of the biggest of those dating sites is the Guardian Soulmates. The Guardian newspaper has a liberal minded, urban kind of readership and this is reflected in the profiles they attract. The look and feel is fairly young and funky, though older readers are also catered for as well.
Signing Up
The process was fairly simple although there are quite a few questions asked. You can whizz through in about 5 minutes if you want to offer a bare minimum profile, otherwise we think a good 15-20 minutes to fill out a full Guardian Soulmates profile. The steps of setting up your profile are clearly set out, with the optional elements saved until last.
Profiles
Once you are signed up and confirmed your email address, you can have a good browse around the site. You can view almost everything of people’s profiles, except for private photos which you need an invite for. There is a quick tick list to give you an idea of what the person’s attributes are as well as areas that allow you to get to know the person better.
Cost
Despite the liberal attitude of the newspaper, there is certainly a capitalist outlook in terms of the subscription fees. The fees are pretty much the same as more mainstream sites such as Dating Direct or Match.com, starting at £29.99 for one month
Overall
Guardian Soulmates is an interesting website and we have no doubt you can meet like minded people on there, if that is what you are looking for. But the dating game is about meeting people you might not usually consider, and for the subscription fee, we’re not sure what Soulmates gives you that the others do not. Match.com and Dating Direct have bigger subscriber bases and cost the same, we think you might be better off there, but by all means take a look around Soulmates and see if it is suitable for you.
